I had the pleasure of seeing the very public milestone of a dear friend’s journey of throwing her hat over the fence.
3 months ago she took an extended leave from her day job and decided to foot it against pros who had months of systems and supplier set up in their favour.
Sometimes coming in from the fringes supersedes incumbency.
What she had that perhaps they didn’t was the desperation to make it work – the understanding that choosing to believe that what’s in front of her could just be the great moment she has been looking is the turnkey decision to achieve that greatness she seeks.
Those who dare win.
Too many times we take it all too sensibly and factor in “what would such and such do in the moment.” While taking insight from the giants of the past is important, it’s also important to remember you’re not living their lives. Sometimes the best thing to do is the completely daring, gusty, risky, and passion driven thing that only makes sense to you. Success is not any more likely but the journey will absolutely be more rewarding. Doing it once also makes it easy to do again – you get a new momentum and then life gets really interesting.
